      What are Xeomin Injections?

This FDA-approved and clinically proven injectable contains a unique botulinum toxin type A formula specifically designed to target facial lines and wrinkles by weakening the facial muscles - without compromising your natural facial expressions! Xeomin is injected into muscles and used to soften the look of moderate to severe wrinkles – including those vertical frown lines between the eyebrows, known as glabellar lines or the dreaded 11 lines.

Xeomin is a prescription medication for adults that can only be administered by a medical provider. It works in part by blocking the release of chemicals that cause muscle contractions that lead to stubborn frown lines that most people think are there to stay.

In clinical studies, Xeomin patients have demonstrated no secondary lack of treatment response due to neutralizing antibodies that can result from some additives. That’s because Xeomin is formulated with no additives, ensuring you are less likely to develop antibodies that work against the treatment.

What areas do Xeomin Injections treat?

Xeomin is often used to treat forehead lines, wrinkles, and folds, but it can also be injected into other areas of your face, including under your eyes, at the corners of your mouth, above your lips, and around your nose. It can also correct medical conditions caused by muscle hyperactivity, e.g., hyperhidrosis affecting the hands or underarms.

The most common injection sites include:

      • Forehead lines
      • Furrowed Brows
      • Crow’s Feet

Xeomin Injections have an excellent track record and have brought profound results for many of our patients in the Alexandria VA area.

Are Xeomin Injections right for me?

Facial injections are certainly less invasive than cosmetic surgery, but they still are not without risk. At your consultation, we will take a full medical history and evaluate the other skin rejuvenation options you've tried. Our physicians will ask and answer questions and determine together with you if you would be a good candidate for Xeomin treatment.

If you’ve tried other treatments that have not given you the results you seek, then you probably are a good candidate for Xeomin Injections. For more questions about Xeomin Injections, speak with our experts today to see if this is the best treatment option for you. Call (240) 754-7954.

      Common questions about Xeomin Injections

      How do Xeomin Injections work?

During your Xeomin Injection session, the injection site will be thoroughly cleaned, then a small needle will be used to insert the Xeomin formula into your treatment area. The process can be repeated if you have multiple areas we need to treat. There are a few ways to deliver your personalized treatment for your skincare needs. We offer traditional injection techniques that deliver the solution into the muscle.

What is the Aquagold Fine Touch Option?

For more dramatic results, we also offer the added option of Aquagold Fine Touch, a similar procedure to microneedling. Aquagold Fine Touch delivers a low dose of treatment into the dermis for a whole-face smoothing effect.

These two techniques, together, are highly successful at achieving your best results. Your clinician will work with you to determine which technique is right for you.

      Are Xeomin Injections safe?

Xeomin Injections have an excellent safety profile. However, if you have blood clotting disorders, anemia, or cancer, or if you have skin cancer, open wounds, sores or irritated skin in the treatment area, Xeomin Injections may be contraindicated. Xeomin Injections are also not for you if you have certain allergies (e.g., to stainless steel), hemostatic (bleeding) dysfunction, are pregnant or nursing, or taking certain medications. We will discuss all of your safety concerns at our first session before proceeding with treatment.

How long does one treatment take?

At your first session, you will speak with one of our Xeomin Injection specialists to develop a personalized treatment plan and review any concerns or questions you may have. Treatments generally require no more than 15-30 minutes, but your first session may last longer as we collect your medical information.

How long does it take to see the results?

Results can vary, but most people see a difference within four days. Recurring injections may be needed to provide continued results.

      How long do results last?

Individual injections can bring results that last up to five months. Physicians often recommend one injection every 4-5 months, but your physician can discuss any issues to determine how often to schedule repeat Xeomin Injections.

      Are Xeomin Injections painful?

These treatments provide little to no discomfort.

      Are there any side effects?

While you may experience some swelling, soreness or redness at the injection site, these effects are only temporary. In general, Xeomin has minimal side effects. Some patients have reported headaches after treatment that generally resolve within four days. We have many patients who experience no side effects at all.

How long will I need to get Xeomin Injections?

Even though results can often be seen almost immediately and last for several months, you are free to continue your sessions as long as you need them and are seeing improvement.
